NSMC Joint Secretariat staff were delighted to host a visit by a delegation from the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) on 18 September.
The ACYPL programme focuses on international educational exchanges for young political leaders worldwide and has a long established relationship with the NI Assembly. The programme provides in-depth exploration of the governance, politics, policy making, bilateral relations, culture, and geographic diversity of the host country. This year’s delegation included members of the Nebraska State Senate and the Michigan and Florida House of Representatives.
As well as meeting with Executive Ministers and MLAs in Stormont, the delegation had a wide ranging and busy programme of engagements with leaders across civic, business and academic fora. Their whistle stop tour also included visits to sites across Northern Ireland.
While in Armagh the delegation received a presentation on the work of the North South Ministerial Council, its areas of co-operation and its North South Implementation Bodies, from the NSMC Deputy Joint Secretaries Sean McAteer and Amanda Bane.
