The 2023 Conference for Board Members of the North South Bodies took place in Armagh on 25 May 2023.
The Conference opened with keynote addresses delivered by the Head of the NI Civil Service, Jayne Brady and the Secretary General to the Government of Ireland, John Callinan.
Helen Johnston of the National Economic and Social Council highlighted the findings in its research report Shared Island, Shared Opportunity which acknowledges the solid foundations in place at institutional, community and individual level, for a common approach to the key economic, social, environmental and wellbeing challenges faced by citizens across the island.
Panel discussions focussed on how both Administrations support the work of the North South Bodies in the delivery of policy priorities for the benefit of all. It also provided a welcome occasion for the CEOs of each of the North South Bodies to highlight their respective contributions, as products of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement, to North South Cooperation over the last 25 years; to illustrate the challenges they face; and discuss opportunities for the future.
